Are Orphans the cause of insecurity in Nigeria?

The minister of women affairs Mrs. Pauline Talen on Sunday called on couples with child-bearing-related problems to consider adoption.

In her address, says that children are a blessing and everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy this blessing. I agree with this.

What caught my attention about what she said was that the minister noted that the majority of vulnerable children often constitute a nuisance to society, hence the need to inculcate family morals into them. This, I disagree.

The assumption that vulnerable children are the ones who constitute a nuisance to society is not correct because I feel anyone can be a nuisance to society and being inculcated into a family does not guarantee anything because even those with families can also be nuisances to society.

She also said adopting these children in a family will help to heal the country of immoral behaviors, insecurity and transform them into future leaders. I think the assumption that orphans are one of the main causes of insecurity and that they are immoral is wrong and this idea should be discontinued.
